California native Glenna Molloy, a travel writer, flies to Ireland to explore sacred places cherished by Finn Maguire, her great lost love, in hopes of finding new meaning in her life. But Coyle Foxworth, her intrusive and cagey co-author, can’t work without her. He follows her to County Fermanagh, disturbing her spiritual journey. They visit tiny Caldragh Graveyard with its ancient pagan stone and fairy tree. The graveyard is reputed to be a “Thin Place,” where the veil between our world and the Celtic Otherworld is so fragile it can disappear. There they meet a mysterious femme fatale, Maeve, who says she is half-fey. Magical things begin to happen, and suddenly Finn reappears in Glenna’s life…
“I love this book. I was hooked from page one. It's very clear that Ms. Herter did her research for this story. Her knowledge and insight of Ireland are apparent in every chapter. I feel as though I walked with Glenna. Saw and felt all that she did. Every description and emotion came to life with crystal clarity…. THE THIN PLACE is a story I'll remember for a long time to come and one I am sure to revisit. It was fresh and different from anything I've read in years." Review by Lisa Kelley
The Thin Place eBook Lori Herter
I love this book. I was hooked from page one. It's very clear that Ms. Herter did her research for this story. Her knowledge and insight of Ireland are apparent in every chapter. I feel as though I walked with Glenna. Saw and felt all that she did. Every description and emotion came to life with crystal clarity. The characters in THE THIN PLACE are as rich as Ireland itself.
Glenna Molloy is a very real, believable protagonist . She has flaws and weaknesses, yet her strength shines through. Her love for Finn and the places so dear to him propel her into a journey that many of us may not have the courage to take.
Finn Maguire had my heart in his first scene in this story. A man of convictions, he gave up his one true love to honor a commitment that many men would have walked away from. Our world could benefit from a few more Finns.
Glenna's co-author, Coyle Foxworth is the night to Finn's day. I personally found him obnoxious and clueless. But I will say one thing about Coyle--he is a man who knows what he wants. His character further deepens the telling of this story.
Maeve, is she really half-fey? Each reader has to make up their own mind to that. As for me? I believe! Maeve is an independent woman with an amazing insight into people. She has a wisdom that, dare I say is other worldly.
You also get to meet Eily O'Grady, the owner of the B&B that Glenna calls home while in Ireland. Eily is a good sounding board for Glenna as so many things happen. She's a sweet woman who won me over right away.
There are a couple other characters that round the story out, but they are for the reader to meet.
THE THIN PLACE is a story I'll remember for a long time to come and one I am sure to revisit. It was fresh and different from anything I've read in years. Afterward, I found it hard to keep it from my thoughts. The journey of reading this book was one I enjoyed very much. I do however have one request to make of the author, Ms. Herter. Please write a prequel!

The Thin Place eBook Lori Herter Reviews
I enjoyed this book from start to finish. Set in modern Ireland but with an interweaving of old world Celtic myth and magic. The main character Glenna is a travel writer from the USA in Ireland in search of the mystic places, the Thin Places, where the real world comes close to that of the ethereal. She has never forgotten her lost Irish love and visiting his home place stirs many memories and feelings.
Ireland, it's myths and it's people are very accurately portrayed. Although I am Irish and have seen a lot of my country this book still gave me a list of must visit places particularly Boa Island! My favourite character has to be Maeve, we can never be quite sure if she is flesh and blood or something a little more magical. Does Glenna find a new love or rediscover her old love? Read the book and see for yourself. You will enjoy the journey.
This book is amazing! It weaves like a celtic pattern! It draws out something in your heart and soul, something that may have hiding for fear of being hurt. There is more-there is that touch of faith that comes out again- it is all about believing ... Thank you not only for a great book but for making me remember a part of my heart and soul that needed mending!!!
THE THIN PLACE is a rather engaging story. Ms. Herter has certainly done her research and woven Celtic lore, at times mythical and others magical, into a story of searching for your hearts longing. Her ability to turn a phrase and prose style will engage those readers that want more than just a good story. A number of memorable characters round out the cast. Glenna, a woman whose motivation lies in a man whom she has loved for years. And Finn, a man whose life experience has left him searching to regain his unshakeable faith. We share in both of their points of view as the story builds in anticipation of each of them finding what their hearts seek. This story is not without its roadblocks or problems. The roguish, Coyle, family drama, and one of my favorites the enigmatic Maeve, give the story the tension it needs to keep us turning pages.
Lori Herter has written a lovely book of Ireland, Irish folklore and Irish sacred places. Interwoven is a story of an American woman on a spiritual quest and how Ireland and its people influenced her. Ms Herter had me walking the paths of sacred places and smelling the rain and tasting the traditional Irish fare. I was delighted to visit Ireland this way and delighted by the compelling story rounded out with the love and integrity of its characters. Even though this is noted as a fiction novel, I want to believe there is truth to it. Please enjoy this light and soft book of people growing strong in their love.
This book was terrific. I had a hard time putting it down. I loved Maeve, I would like a book with her as the main character. I enjoy the mixture of folklore,Druids, and Christianity.Everything came together so well. I feel like we can have it all. I believe.
A very satisfying read by a seasoned romance writer. The rich description of Ireland made me feel like I'd been transported there. I specially enjoyed the Irish lore, the fairies and the church miracles, and the objective way all was presented. I'm still smiling about the hints and intrigue of the fantastical -- kept me turning the pages. I found Finn a very real and satisfying love interest. Coyle was such an authentic obnoxious character that I rooted for his comeuppance and am wholly satisfied how that was resolved. I enjoyed following the engaging Glenna to graveyards, holy sites, and beyond. And mystical Maeve--she is a discovery unto herself. I'd dearly love to stay in Eily's B&B. Glenna went to Ireland on a spiritual quest and like any such quest, the worldly obstacles abound. How our heroes transcend them makes a great story.
I hope the author writes more novels set in Ireland.
